Karnataka government has established a new website for online payment of Value Added Tax. VAT is a tax levied at every stage of transaction but taxpayer will receive credit for tax paid already at earlier stage. VAT is followed by around 160 countries. It has replaced sales tax system in India. In earlier sales tax, structure tax is not levied on all stages of transaction. VAT makes easy internal trade and development of common market.
However, it increases the cost and not with time saving feature. All the states were granting such incentives to new industries in the form of exemption from tax on the purchase of inputs as well as on the sale of finished goods, sales tax loans and/or tax deferral Department is headed by Department of Commercial Taxes, Government of Karnataka.

Dealer can choose any one of the option as per their convenience. The registration should be made in specified form VAT Form 1.
Using the given web-site the dealers can submit VAT returns Form, download the e-Sugam forms, request and download the CST forms, upload the CST Receipt forms, TDS forms, Sales, Purchase and Export Invoices details. These options are available after providing username and password which are provided by the department. Details can also be seen in the user manual available in the web-site.
An individual can pay tax from the website https://vat.kar.nic.in/epay/docs/FAQ_EPAY.pdf by downloading specified PDF format. E-payment can be done by recognized bank also. List of banks is given on official website.
